Adrian Toomes, AKA the Vulture, was the former CEO of a Salvation Company and the main antagonist to Spider-Man from Earth-199999 in Spider-Man: Homecoming. He was transported from his universe to the SSMU by a spell casted by sorcerer Doctor Strange in the year 2024.

Biography[]

Spider-Man: Homecoming[]

After his Salvation Company went out of business and shut down, he resulted to a life of crime illegally smuggling and selling alien technology to street criminals. Spider-Man was informed of this and decided to intervene, sabotaging one of his deals. Infuriated, Toomes goes after Spider-Man using his mechanical Vulture suit. However, Spider-Man manages to escape and evades capture. Toomes decides to focus on his next endeavour, which involves transporting large amounts of tech across Staten Island via a Ferry.

He's once again sabotaged by Spider-Man, and during their fight a piece of alien technology goes off, which splits the boat in half. Spider-Man manages to keep the ship together and Toomes, as the Vulture, escapes. Due to Spider-Man constantly ruining his deals, he's started to lose money as his business begins to feel the effects of Spider-Man's intervention. This motivates him to take up an offer by one of his associates for one final big job that could have set him for life, allowing him to retire.

While all of this is going on, Peter is preparing for his High School's homecoming dance with Liz Allen. He goes to Liz's house to meet her dad, who is revealed to be Adrian.

Adrian doesn't pick up on the fact that Peter is Spider-Man at first, but through deduction eventually figures it out, and threatens to kill Peter and everyone he loves if he interferes with his business again. It's revealed his family doesn't know of his actual source of income, and how he manages to support them.

After dropping Peter and Liz off at their school, he leaves to prepare for his final job, which involves hijacking a government aircraft carrying extremely dangerous alien and superhuman technology and artifacts. Peter apologizes to Liz before ditching her and choosing to go after Toomes. He tracks down Toomes after an encounter with The Shocker. They have a quick fight before Peter is crushed under a collapsed building. He manages to free himself and follows Toomes. They fight atop the aircraft, and during their encounter, one of Adrian's Vulture wings clips the turbine, causes the plane to crash onto the beach in a fiery mess.

In a last ditch attempt, Adrian attempts to fly off with a crate of stolen tech, which is about to explode. Peter tries to warn him, but he doesn't listen. The device blows up and Peter rushes into the fire and debris to save him. He's successful, and Adrian is arrested and put in prison.

While in prison, he meets up with one of his old associates Mac Gargan (AKA The Scorpion), who insists on escaping and exacting revenge on Spider-Man. Because Spider-Man saved his life, Adrian refuses to give up his secret identity.

Spider-Man: No Way Home[]

At the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home, sorcerer Doctor Strange casts a spell to make everyone forget that Peter Parker exists. The spell seals up a crack in the multiverse that opened up due to a previously-casted spell and sends various villains from the multiverse back to their home realities. However, the spell also has the effect of sending a few people who were already in their universe to other universes. One of which is Adrian Toomes.

Morbius[]

Adrian Toomes finds himself transported to Morbius' universe by Doctor Strange's spell. After recreating his Vulture Flight Suit, he finds and approaches Morbius, suggesting they form a team to learn more about how he got here, and how it may have connections to Spider-Man.

Personality[]

Adrian is a very cunning man, with a lot of charisma that makes people very easily susceptible to his influence. This allows him to easily hide his secret life and business from his wife and child, whom he loves very much and would do almost anything to protect. He shows little tolerance for Spider-Man, or anyone who wastes his time and keeps him from achieving his goal. However, he is capable of showing sympathy for others, particularly Peter. After finding out Spider-Man was the kid his daughter had been asked out to Homecoming by, he warns him and ultimately lets him know that everything he does is for his family, and he doesn't want to actually hurt or kill Peter, but will if he has no choice. After Peter saves his life, he earns Adrian's respect, doesn't rat Peter out to Mac Gargan when asked if he knew Spider-Man's secret identity.

Abilities[]

Master Pilot[]

  • Adrian has demonstrated great precision and control over his Vulture Flight Suit, and is able to quickly and accurately maneuver through the air, particularly during battle and his encounters with Spider-Man.

Master Businessman[]

  • Able to overcome any setbacks, he's quick to take any opportunity that may present itself in order to grow and expand his business.

Combatant[]

  • He shows great intelligence in combat, and is able to very easily defend and attack against enemies, both on the ground and in the air whenever he's in operation of his high-tech Vulture suit.

Highly Intelligent[]

  • In order to pull off a lot of his planning, Adrian uses his naturally high intellect and observational abilities to make informed decisions and to learn more about others and the world around. This is how he was able to deduce that Spider-Man may have had some involvement in his transition across universes. He was also able to recognize Peter's voice as matching Spider-Man's, which helped him reach the conclusion that Peter Parker was Spider-Man.
